Mahama promises new stadiums for Ghana's six regions, Kofi Adams takes charge

President John Dramani Mahama announced construction plans for six modern sports stadia during his Western North Region visit. The leader made this declaration while conducting his Thank You Tour following his presidential re-election victory. Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams currently supervises the design phase for these stadium projects. Mahama addressed local leaders and residents about building modern sports facilities in the six newly established regions and other areas lacking such infrastructure. The initiative targets equal access to quality sports infrastructure nationwide while addressing developmental gaps in underserved regions.

Ghana established six additional regions after a national referendum aimed at improving governance and accelerating local development. Western North, Oti, North East, Bono East, Savannah, and Ahafo represent the new administrative divisions. These additions expanded Ghana's total regional count from ten to sixteen. The stadium construction project forms part of broader efforts to distribute resources more equitably across the expanded regional structure.
