Mahama torches UNGA, GFL boss warns of Nkrumah's fate

Abraham Koomson praised President John Dramani Mahama for delivering bold remarks at the United Nations General Assembly. The Ghana Federation of Labour secretary general spoke on Ahotor FM on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, about Mahama's address on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025. Koomson said the president performed well by addressing global issues directly, but warned that such frankness creates external dangers. The speech divided international observers between those who appreciated his directness and others who questioned his firm positions.

Mahama argued the UN charter no longer matches current realities and emphasized Africa's central role in global affairs. The president criticized visa restrictions against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and called for ending violence in Gaza. Koomson compared Mahama's courage to former President Kwame Nkrumah, who faced Western opposition after challenging global power structures. The labor leader urged Mahama to strengthen personal security, fearing potential retaliation from international forces.
