Mai Jeremaya begged rapist for condom court hears

Social media star Mai Jeremaya testified against two men accused of sexual assault at a Harare lodge. Ashley Masendeke chose to reveal her identity during court proceedings instead of staying anonymous. She told Regional Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi about the April 30 incident involving Thabo Blessing Dube and Martin Charlie. The influencer broke down when describing how she begged one attacker to wear protection. Prosecutor Cecilia Mashingaidze presented the case against both defendants.

Masendeke described physical and mental pressure during the attack at the lodge. She initially hid the incident because she feared public judgment and threats from her attackers. The men told her they would find her home address and cause harm. The assault left her needing medication that affects her sleep patterns. Her romantic relationship suffered major damage after the traumatic experience.

Defense lawyers painted a different picture of what happened that day. The accused men claim Masendeke contacted them first about paid intimate services. They argue the encounter was voluntary and she participated willingly. The defendants say she hired private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa to force payment from them. Both men deny all criminal charges and maintain their innocence.
