Malaika Arora says Bollywood got real, raw, and reel-ready

Malaika Arora thinks Bollywood changed a lot in the last twenty-five years. She said storytelling moved past formulaic plots and became more honest and complex. The actress noted that technology advanced with digital tools and visual effects, while audiences grew sharper and more accepting of different stories. She found the mainstream success of content-driven films particularly surprising.

Arora mentioned her own path moved beyond dancing and glamour into wellness and business. She pointed to movies like Lagaan and Queen as era-defining works. Shah Rukh Khan's films, from Swades to Pathaan, shaped the industry's emotional core across decades, according to her. Performances by actors like Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt showed stronger female characters evolving. She believes these shifts, plus streaming services, set the stage for Bollywood's future of mixing scale with substance.
