Malami Chokes Up Over Uwais Death

Former Attorney General Abubakar Malami expressed grief over the death of Justice Muhammadu Lawal Uwais. The ex-minister praised Uwais as a major figure who shaped Nigeria's court system. Justice Uwais died at 88 years old after serving his country for many decades. Malami called the former Chief Justice a man of strong character and honesty. The legal expert worked hard to defend justice throughout his career.

Uwais led Nigeria's highest court from 1995 to 2006 as Chief Justice. The respected judge created bold changes that improved how courts operate across the nation. He fought to protect the rule of law against corruption and political interference. Legal experts remember Uwais as one of the most important judicial officers ever. His leadership helped strengthen public trust during difficult times for Nigerian democracy.

After retirement, Uwais chaired the Presidential Electoral Reform Committee that studied voting problems. The committee created recommendations that still guide election improvements today. Malami remembered how Uwais continued serving Nigeria even after leaving the bench. The former Attorney General asked for forgiveness of any mistakes Uwais made during his lifetime. He prayed for comfort for the family and strength for all Nigerians mourning this loss.
