Malawi HR Chiefs to Face Legal Wrath

Human resource managers from southern Malawi learned about proper workplace practices during a training session. Bright Limani from Crystal Management Consults taught the two-day workshop at Mango Lodge near Zomba. The expert warned that managers who break labor laws cost their companies money through lawsuits. Many workers see HR staff as enemies because of poor treatment and bad decisions. Companies fire employees without following correct procedures and face expensive legal problems.

The training covered how managers can build better relationships with workers. Limani said HR departments should help employees instead of creating fear and conflict. Managers from FINCA, Property Solution Limited, Ilovo, Yoneco, Mubarak College, MUST and Fidlis Construction attended the workshop. Geoffry Mipando from FINCA praised the training for teaching useful skills. He told workers not to fear human resource departments since their job involves supporting staff members rather than just firing people.
