Over Seven Million Sign Up to Vote in Malawi.
The Malawi Electoral Commission reports that 7,200,905 people put their names down to vote. This comes after both main and extra sign-up times ended this week.

Women make up most of the new voters. The count shows 4,113,342 women and 3,087,563 men signed up. This means women are 57.1% of voters, with men at 42.9%.
The National Statistical Office thought 10,957,490 people would be old enough to vote by September 16, 2025. The real sign-up numbers show that 65.7% of this group came forward.
Looking at each group, six out of ten men who could vote signed up. The rate was higher for women: About seven out of ten women who could vote put their names down.
