Malawi's Innovation Jam gets K75.5 million boost for AI-driven solutions

National Bank of Malawi has committed K75.5 million to support the 2025 Innovation Jam, which will accompany the annual ICT conference organized by the ICT Association of Malawi. The bank's Head of Digital Financial Services, William Kaunda, explained that many talented technology entrepreneurs struggle without adequate platforms or structured mentorship to develop their concepts into viable enterprises.

The financial institution signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with ICTAM to provide continuous incubation services and technical assistance for emerging innovators. Kaunda emphasized that artificial intelligence has become essential for detecting sophisticated fraud and protecting customers from evolving cybersecurity threats.

ICTAM President Clarence Gama expressed appreciation for the sustained corporate backing, noting that the competition will feature pitching sessions evaluated by expert judges who will identify promising projects for further development and incubation support.
