Malaysia waives visas for Myanmar visits from Oct 1

Myanmar citizens will travel to Malaysia without visas beginning Oct. 1, 2025, according to Malaysian diplomatic officials in Yangon. The policy change applies to social visits lasting 14 days or fewer, Malaysian newspaper The Star reported. Immigration authorities at border checkpoints retain authority to approve or deny entry despite the visa waiver program. Malaysian officials stressed that eliminating visa requirements does not guarantee automatic admission to the country.
