A mason faces assault charges after attacking a church leader and her construction crew. Ebenezer Katey walked free from Amasaman Circuit Court after posting GH¢50,000 bail with two people backing him. Justice Enid Marful-Sau ordered the accused man to return for his next hearing on July 10. Katey told the court he did not commit the crime. Police continue investigating the violent land dispute.
Mary Adom runs Apostle Pentecostal Ministries and bought four plots of land back in 2015. The prophetess paid GHC22,000 for the property at Kwaku Panfo to build her church. She had all the proper papers for the land purchase. Workers started digging the foundation for the new church building on April 28. Everything seemed normal until trouble arrived.
Katey and three other men stormed the construction site around 10:30 that morning. The group carried dangerous weapons like scissors and cutlasses. They attacked Adom and her workers without warning. Katey beat the prophetess with his belt after she tried calling for help. The violent man also stole her mobile phone during the attack.
One brave witness secretly filmed the whole incident on his phone. Katey and his gang spotted the man recording and went after him. The witness managed to escape with his phone and ran straight to Tentibian Police Station. Officers are still working on the case against all four suspects.
