Mandhana on fire with record 23-ball fifty vs Aussies

Smriti Mandhana established a new benchmark for Indian women cricketers by achieving her half-century against Australia in merely 23 deliveries at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The vice-captain surpassed Richa Ghosh's previous mark of 26 balls set during a New Zealand encounter in February 2022. Her aggressive batting propelled India to 96 runs for two wickets during the powerplay phase, marking their finest start in ODI history. The team reached 100 runs within 11 overs, representing their fastest century milestone in the format.

Mandhana demonstrated exceptional strokeplay by striking boundaries and sixes against Kim Garth, Megan Schutt, and Ashleigh Gardner throughout her innings. She holds additional records for the quickest century by an Indian woman, accomplished in 70 balls against Ireland earlier this year in Rajkot. Her second-fastest century came against Australia in 77 balls during a previous match in New Chandigarh. The crowd responded enthusiastically to her performance while India pursued their target of 413 runs.
