Manikandan, Sai Pallavi, and Anirudh sweep Kalaimamani as Tamil stars flex

Tamil Nadu authorities revealed recipients of Kalaimamani Awards spanning three consecutive years. The state bestows this distinction as its premier civilian recognition for exceptional achievements in arts, literature, and cultural fields. Recipients for 2021 encompass actor S J Suryah, actress Sai Pallavi, director Lingusamy, and stunt coordinator Super Subbarayan among thirty honorees. Actor Vikram Prabhu and lyricist Viveka secured recognition for 2022 achievements. The 2023 winners feature actor Manikandan, supporting actor George Maryan, composer Anirudh, vocalist Shwetha Mohan, and choreographer Sandy.

Director Lingusamy conveyed appreciation through video message following the announcement. He referenced former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's description of receiving this award as resembling a maternal kiss. Lingusamy acknowledged technicians, performers, relatives, and mentors who supported his career journey. He expressed particular gratitude toward his teacher Raji and producer R B Choudhary who provided his debut opportunity. The director emphasized that witnessing others' joy motivates him to pursue greater accomplishments.
