The corruption trial of former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been postponed to July 2026 by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. She faces twelve counts of corruption and one count of money laundering related to her previous role as Defence Minister, where she is accused of soliciting bribes from a defence contractor.
Her legal representative informed the court she would not be making further representations to the National Prosecuting Authority and was prepared to proceed to trial. The case has experienced several delays since her arrest in 2024. Her existing bail of 50,000 rand was extended until the new court date.
