UK rapper Marnz Malone, real name Kimani Shaw, just got deported to Jamaica. The 26-year-old artist, originally from Spanish Town, got sent back right after finishing an eleven-year prison sentence over there. He was convicted for having a gun with plans to use it, a case that started from some wild gang violence in Birmingham back in 2019.
The whole thing kicked off when he rode a bike into B16 gang territory on Whitmore Street in Hockley and aimed a firearm at some rivals. He got stabbed nearly twenty times, not long after in a subway, leaving him in critical condition. That stabbing sparked more violence, leading to a triple shooting in Ladywood less than a day later, which killed 23-year-old Dante Mullings. Four other guys got life for that murder, but Shaw wasn't tied to it since he was still in the hospital fighting for his life at the time.
He kept making music while locked up, dropping three albums. One track from 2023, Cold Hearted World, pulled in over seven million YouTube views. His 2024 project, Tina's Boy, even hit number six on the UK Hip Hop chart. UK immigration law booted him as a foreign national with a serious conviction. He moved to Birmingham's Newtown area as a kid after his dad died. Now back in Jamaica, he's posting social media clips of himself chilling on the island.
