Maryam Abacha Claims Millions Vanished

Maryam Abacha defended her dead husband against theft claims during a Sunday television show. The widow said people wrongly accused General Sani Abacha of stealing government money. She demanded proof that anyone saw signatures or evidence of hidden foreign accounts. Maryam claimed money her husband saved for Nigeria disappeared after he died. Nobody talks about the missing funds that vanished under later leaders.

Nigeria has recovered billions of dollars from overseas banks connected to the former ruler. Countries like Switzerland and America returned cash they called Abacha loot. The government used recovered money for social programs across the nation. Maryam questioned whether witnesses actually existed to support the theft stories. She believes ethnic and religious hatred drove accusations against her family.

The widow cleared Abacha of canceling the June 1993 presidential election results. Other government officials made that decision without his involvement according to his wife. Maryam said no single person could control everything that happened during military rule. She asked Nigerians to stop spreading lies about different regions and religions. The woman prayed for people to treat each other with kindness.
