Massive 150MW Power Grab for Wheat Goldmine

Zimbabwe's electricity provider carved out dedicated power for winter wheat farming. ZETDC reserved 150 megawatts to support agricultural operations across the country. Farmers will use the electricity to run irrigation systems and mechanized equipment during the critical growing season.

Water authorities and agricultural ministries are working together to ensure reliable energy and water resources. Stakeholders hope the strategic intervention will boost wheat production and strengthen national food security. The country aims to harvest 600,000 tonnes of wheat, meeting the annual consumption requirement of 360,000 tonnes.

Electricity plays a crucial role in powering agricultural infrastructure and supporting local food production efforts. The power allocation represents a proactive approach to addressing agricultural challenges. Farmers stand ready to maximize the dedicated electricity for comprehensive wheat cultivation.
