Massive Stimulant Bust - Authorities Seize K1.35 Billion Worth of Pills in Waw Township

Police nabbed three men with nearly one million illegal pills during a dawn raid last Tuesday. Drug enforcement officers stopped their truck after receiving a hot tip about the massive haul. The suspects thought they could smuggle the dangerous stimulants from Yangon all the way to Dawei without getting caught. Each tiny tablet sells for 1,500 kyats on the street, making the entire stash worth over one billion kyats. Officers found the drugs hidden inside a six-wheel Nissan truck near Nyaungkhashy Village.

The bust happened around five in the morning when most people were still sleeping. Hein Latt was driving the vehicle when police surrounded him and his two passengers. His companions went by the names Mae Gyi and Sithu, but their real names are Nay Lin Htaik and Kaung Su Nyi. The three men had no idea that authorities were tracking their every move. Drug enforcement teams had been watching this route for weeks.

Officers discovered exactly 900,000 stimulant tablets packed carefully inside the truck. The pills were heading to Dawei where dealers planned to sell them to users across the region. Police estimate the street value at roughly 1.35 billion kyats, making this one of the biggest drug seizures this year. The suspects face serious charges under the country's tough anti-drug laws. All three men remain behind bars as investigators build their case against the trafficking ring.
