Fred Matiangi met with Maasai leaders from Narok on Friday as he builds support for his 2027 presidential run. Moitalel Ole Kenta hosted the gathering, where local elders joined the former Interior Cabinet Secretary. Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka called it a good talk with their Maa brothers. Senators Onyonka and Omogeni, along with former senator Sam Ongeri, went back to Matiangi at the meeting. The event happened just after President Ruto visited the area.
Matiangi first said he would run for president at his May homecoming rally at Gusii Stadium. He later stood with Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Martha Karua at an event at Rigathi Gachagua's home. He promised to clean up the country and make people trust the government again. He talked about his past work fixing exam cheating when he served as Education Cabinet Secretary. He plans to tour more Maa counties soon as his campaign moves forward.
