Former NBA player Matt Barnes announced he is pursuing legal action against a woman he accused of extortion. Barnes stated that after a brief online interaction during a temporary separation from his partner, Anansa Sims, the woman demanded 60,000 dollars. He claimed she threatened to release private messages and audio unless he paid.
Barnes said he ended the online communication upon reconciling with Sims. He also accused a gossip blogger of helping to spread false information about him. The public revelation that he and Sims were expecting a child, featured on their show The Barnes Bunch, reportedly intensified the harassment.
