Mayanja jailed over disputed kibanja sale to judge

A real estate dealer got arrested for ghosting a judge after spotting a hilarious timeline error. Entebbe police detained Charles Mayanja after a bitter fallout with Bushenyi High Court Judge Amos Kwizera regarding land in Kasanje, Wakiso. The businessman stopped paying the judicial officer because he claims the purchase documents are completely fraudulent.

The drama started when Kwizera acquired a kibanja at Gayaza-Nangombe from John Ssemugooma without asking the registered title holder. Mayanja initially agreed to compensate the buyer to leave the property. He even wired twenty million shillings to a Standard Chartered account as a commitment fee.

Matters got weird when the suspect reviewed the 1996 agreement used for the original sale. He noticed that John Ssuuna, who acted as a witness, listed a ten-digit phone number starting with 071 next to his signature.

Mayanja argued that such digits did not exist back then. He refused to clear the balance, but the magistrate claims the contract remains binding anyway. Officers are holding the dealer while the legal stand-off continues.
