Mbappé Shatters Real Madrid Record in Debut Season

Kylian Mbappé set a new Real Madrid record with his three goals against Barcelona last weekend. His team lost the match 4-3 at the Montjuïc stadium during round 35 of La Liga. Real Madrid announced on their website that Mbappé has scored 39 goals this season, the most ever for a player in their first year at the club. He passed the old mark of 37 goals held by Iván Zamorano from the 1992-1993 season. The French star reached this milestone despite his team failing to win the game.

Mbappé scored his goals across six different competitions throughout the season. He netted 27 goals in La Liga matches. The Champions League saw him add seven more goals to his total. He scored twice in Copa del Rey games. Mbappé also found the net once each in the UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup.
