Mbare Bedbug Blitz Drives Residents Crazy

Officials started spraying homes across Mbare to kill bedbugs that were spreading through this crowded Harare neighborhood. The campaign targets apartment buildings like Matererini, where residents face severe pest problems. Many locals expressed relief about the government's help against these tiny bloodsuckers. They hope spraying will continue until all bugs disappear from their homes. Deputy Information Minister Omphile Marupi called the effort a major step forward in addressing this urgent community problem.

The government plans to build new apartments and fix older buildings throughout Mbare. Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe asked everyone to work with pest control teams visiting their homes. He mentioned that plans exist to repair all 53 old apartment blocks in the area. Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume promised that regular spraying operations would happen across the neighborhood. He also emphasized that people need to keep their spaces clean to prevent bugs from coming back. The campaign brings together many agencies working toward making Mbare healthier for everyone living there.
