A young mother from Mbare lost her four-year-old son to a fake religious leader two weeks back. Priscilla Mbombo trusted someone calling himself Madzibaba John when her child fell sick. She spoke with the man over the phone about her baby's health problems and arranged to meet him at Tsiga Grounds at five in the evening. The woman wanted prayers and healing for her sick little boy.
The supposed prophet told Priscilla to find a red piece of cloth for the religious ceremony. She believed his words and left her son with Madzibaba John during the search. When she came back with the cloth, both the man and her child had vanished completely. Priscilla has been hunting for them since the first day of June but cannot find any trace.
Police spokesman Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed they are working on the kidnapping case. The mother reported the crime after her personal search efforts failed. Officers are looking for the missing child and the man who took him from the prayer meeting location.
