MERA Suspends Four Fuel Stations for Violations

MERA Stops Four Gas Stations From Selling Fuel.

The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority put a halt on fuel sales at four stations that broke the rules.

MERA named ENGEN Chiringa, Mount Meru Dunduzu 2, Mount Meru Nathenje, and Simso Mzuzu as the stations that must stop working. The office found that these places sold fuel in cans and drums, which is against the law.

People told MERA about wrong acts at these stations. The stations kept selling fuel in cans after many warnings. This made it hard for normal drivers to buy fuel. It put people in danger as well.

The office told big fuel companies not to send more fuel to these stations. Mount Meru, Simso Oil, and ENGEN must wait until MERA says they can start again.

MERA wants to ensure that the stations change their ways before they open. The office needs to check that all rules will be followed.

Members of the public can tell police if they see wrongdoing at fuel stations. They can also call MERA at 4259 or 0992 558 564.
