Messi Stranded as Miami Draws in Desert

Inter Miami tied 0-0 with Al Ahly from Egypt during their Club World Cup opener at Hard Rock Stadium. Lionel Messi struggled early as his team failed to create scoring chances against the African champions. Goalkeeper Oscar Ustari saved Inter Miami from losing after making several brilliant stops during the first half. The 38-year-old keeper blocked a penalty kick and prevented multiple goals that could have embarrassed the home team. Nearly 61,000 fans watched the match with many supporting Al Ahly.

Al Ahly controlled most of the first half through aggressive attacking play from their forwards. Coach Javier Mascherano used a 4-4-2 formation that did not work against the Egyptian team's defensive strategy. Messi attempted two free kicks and several corner kicks but could not score. The referee made questionable decisions that favored Inter Miami during key moments. Mascherano substituted defender Tomas Aviles to prevent a red card suspension.

The second half improved for Inter Miami as Messi created better scoring opportunities. The Argentine superstar nearly scored with a curled shot that hit the goalpost. Luis Suarez and other teammates had chances to win the match but failed to convert. Inter Miami faces Porto next and needs victories to advance from their group stage.
