Michael Kabango and Peace Hellen claimed top honors at the 2025 Hima Captain's Putter Golf Tournament on Saturday. The competition drew more than 100 amateur golfers to the Entebbe Course for the annual event. Hima Cement sponsored the tournament as part of a long tradition celebrating club leadership. Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa joined other players on the challenging 18-hole course. The scenic par-72 layout provided the backdrop for a day of fierce competition and community celebration.
Both winners achieved remarkable success when they landed shots on the green at Hole 1. General Michael Kabango competed with a handicap of 30 and earned the men's championship. His wife Peace Hellen played with a handicap of 19 and captured the women's title. The couple received trophies, gift hampers, and custom putters for their outstanding performances. Peace Hellen dominated multiple categories and also won the Nearest to Pin and Longest Drive awards.
Entebbe Golf Club Captain Serwano Walusimbi praised Hima Cement for supporting the tournament each year. Joan Kitawona from Hima Cement confirmed the company's commitment to developing golf infrastructure at the club. The celebration continued with live music from the Ivuga band performing popular songs from the 1990s. Players and guests enjoyed the evening festivities after the competitive rounds ended. The club plans another Hima-sponsored event called Clash of the Titans for September.
