Midfielder Frankson Bushiri dies in crash at 34

Zimbabwe football lost a real grinder after a car crash claimed Frankson Bushiri. The midfielder perished instantly when his vehicle struck a tree near Clonsilla while he drove alone from Kwekwe to Gweru. Police confirmed the impact was severe enough to end his life right there on the roadside.

Bushiri was only 34 and had just joined a Central Region Soccer League team to keep his career moving. Fans knew him as Warrior because he battled through stints at Shabanie Mine, TelOne, Chapungu, and Buffaloes. He initially developed his skills at Mimosa FC back in Zvishavane.

He spent last season pushing Sheasham toward promotion, although they finished second behind Hardrock. That club released a statement expressing deep grief over the tragedy. It hits hard because Bushiri represented the typical struggle of local pros who move wherever the work takes them.

Sheasham assistant coach Luke Petros said the news shook him because he viewed Bushiri like a son after knowing him since his school days. Chairperson Reginald Chidawanyika described the player as a passionate role model who gave everything whenever he stepped onto the pitch.

Trust Nyabinde, who played alongside Bushiri at TelOne, admitted it was a devastating reality to process. He remembered the late midfielder as a fighter who created a perfect atmosphere in the locker room. The local circuit is definitely poorer without such a committed journeyman in the engine room.
