Mines United Name Christopher Tembo Head Coach for 2025-26 Super League Debut

Mines United FC appointed Christopher Tembo as head coach for their first season in Zambia's top football league. The club will compete in the 2025/26 FAZ/MTN Super League. Tembo takes charge after Geoffrey Hamakwenda left the team through mutual agreement. Club officials thanked Hamakwenda for his work and contributions. They expressed confidence that Tembo's skills will help guide the new team forward.

Tembo brings coaching experience from Zambia and Eswatini to his new role. He recently worked in Eswatini where he led Malanti Chiefs from the second division to the premier league. The promotion happened during the season that just ended. Tembo also coached Manzini Sundowns in the same country. His track record shows success at developing teams and achieving results.

Club chairman Mathew Mohan and CEO Micheal Musonda believe Tembo can keep the team competitive. Mines United faces the challenge of surviving their debut campaign in Zambia's highest division. The officials hope Tembo's leadership will prevent relegation back to lower levels. His previous success at promoting teams makes him a good choice for the newcomers. The club expects him to use his experience to build a strong foundation.
