Minister Ahmed Ibrahim warns Ghana's DCEs over misuse of welfare funds

Minister Ahmed Ibrahim delivered stern warnings to District Chief Executives regarding misuse of designated welfare funds. The Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs head stated that immediate dismissal awaits any DCE who diverts money meant for Assembly Members and Persons with Disabilities. President John Mahama will terminate officials who collaborate with District Finance Officers in financial misconduct. The government released these allocations exclusively for supporting elected representatives and disabled citizens rather than administrative expenses. Assembly Members must contact their finance departments to ensure proper payment processing.

The allowance program covers more than 6,000 elected Assembly Members and exceeds 2,000 government appointees nationwide. Political affiliation will not influence fund distribution according to ministerial declarations. Next week begins comprehensive nationwide monitoring to verify appropriate fund usage. The National Democratic Congress administration prioritizes timely allowance payments for Assembly Members and disabled persons. Officials cannot compromise this governmental commitment without facing severe consequences.
