Minister plans reflectors for animals to cut crashes

Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has announced a new initiative to equip domestic animals with reflectors in communal areas. He stated that the measure aims to prevent nighttime road accidents involving free-roaming livestock. The ministry is currently procuring the devices for distribution.

Nekundi explained that the reflectors would be placed on various animals, including dogs, goats, sheep, cows, donkeys, and horses. He emphasized that the initial phase would provide these items at no cost, with a quarter of the supply allocated to each region. A testing period will first determine the program's effectiveness before a potential wider rollout.

The minister urged motorists to drive soberly to ensure they can see the reflective devices. He concluded that this project would save lives and prevent damage to vehicles.
