Minister Revamps Border Security With New Gear

Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak affirmed the government stands behind efforts to boost national security with stronger border protection across Ghana. He spoke when opening a new office building for the Ghana Immigration Service in Mampong, Ashanti Region, where a Nissan pickup truck was also donated. The minister highlighted that modern buildings, staff training, and proper equipment all play key roles in helping security services work effectively. He praised VIP Transport Services CEO Yaw Amponsah Marfo for providing both the office space and vehicle.

The new truck will help immigration officers move around and work more efficiently in the region, according to the minister. He pointed out that this partnership between the public and private sectors shows how such teamwork can improve security systems nationwide. The modern building will serve as headquarters for the Mampong area command, giving staff better working conditions. Mohammed-Mubarak praised immigration officers for their work to secure borders, noting that development cannot happen without security.

The minister asked everyone to stay alert and report anything suspicious, stressing that security requires community participation. He encouraged media outlets to teach people about reporting suspicious activities to maintain peace. Regarding the recent Bawku violence, he asked residents to show restraint and find peaceful solutions. Immigration chief Samuel Basintale Amadu acknowledged office space problems nationwide and promised to address them with ministerial support. Marfo explained his donation as giving back to the community that helped his success.
