Minister threatens Pawan Kalyan film ban

A Telangana minister issued a direct threat to block Pawan Kalyan's movies. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the cinematography minister, said the Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister must apologize for his recent remarks. Films starring the actor-politician will not be released in Telangana theaters otherwise.

The controversy stems from Kalyan blaming an evil eye for dead coconut trees in Konaseema. Many in Telangana viewed this as an insult, referencing the state's formation. Other ministers called his statements immature and politically motivated.

Minister Venkat Reddy clarified that this warning does not apply to Kalyan's brother, megastar Chiranjeevi. He described Chiranjeevi as a sober figure who avoids controversy. The ultimatum stands only for Pawan Kalyan, whom he called new to politics and prone to controversial speech.
