Former Zanu-PF lawmaker Temba Mliswa has accused Vice President Constantino Chiwenga of pursuing the arrest of businessman Wicknell Chivayo over personal financial grievances rather than legitimate corruption concerns. Mliswa stated on Monday that the conflict stemmed from unmet monetary commitments related to Chiwenga's marriage to Miniyothabo Baloyi. The former legislator said Chivayo provided six Rolls-Royces and $250,000 for wedding costs, but failed to deliver an additional $150,000, which damaged their relationship. Mliswa argued that the vice president later reframed this private dispute as an anti-corruption initiative.
The allegations emerge during intense factional struggles within Zanu-PF as Chiwenga presents himself as leading efforts against corrupt networks tied to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Chivayo maintains close ties to the president and holds major government contracts across energy, healthcare, and defense sectors. Neither Chiwenga nor Chivayo addressed Mliswa's claims following their publication on Monday.
