Mnangagwa in South Africa as liberation heads tackle key crises

President Mnangagwa touched down at Waterkloof Airforce Base for the Liberation Movements Summit's final phase. African National Congress National Executive Council member Bejani Chauke welcomed the Zimbabwean leader alongside Ambassador David Hamadziripi and Zanu-PF external affairs secretary Simbarashe Mumbengegwi. The three-day gathering commenced Friday and unites six former liberation organizations from Southern Africa for strategic discussions. ANC from South Africa, Zanu-PF from Zimbabwe, MPLA from Angola, SWAPO from Namibia, Frelimo from Mozambique, and CCM from Tanzania participate under the banner of defending liberation achievements and advancing regional development. Party leaders attend this summit personally rather than sending secretaries-general as representatives, marking a significant departure from previous gatherings.
