Modded Switch OLED matches Switch 2 in some tests

A YouTube channel compared a modified Nintendo Switch OLED with overclocked components against the Switch 2 to assess performance differences between the consoles. The modded system featured a 1707 megahertz CPU, a 1724 megahertz GPU, 8 gigabytes of RAM, an 8600 milliampere-hour battery, and custom cooling hardware. Loading times favored the Switch 2 in titles such as The Witcher 3, but gaps narrowed in other games like Hogwarts Legacy.

Unpatched backward-compatible titles revealed design constraints in the original Switch hardware. Pokémon Legends: Arceus ran at 60 frames per second on the modified console, while the Switch 2 remained locked at 30 frames per second. The modded system handled Metroid Prime Remastered at 1440p resolution with stable performance, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy maintained 60 frames per second compared to the Switch 2's 30-frame cap. The comparison highlighted how limited RAM restricted the original console's capabilities.
