Modder forces janky co-op into Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain

A modder released cooperative gameplay functionality for Metal Gear Solid V through GitHub this week. Developer unknown321 faced numerous technical challenges during development, but published the modification despite persistent issues. The creator hopes other modders will build upon this foundation to achieve quality similar to Peace Walker's official cooperative features. Video demonstrations show the modification's current capabilities and limitations.

Konami continues expanding the Metal Gear franchise beyond Kojima's final contribution to the series. The publisher launched Master Collection Vol. 1 in October 2023, featuring classic 2D and 3D entries from the stealth action franchise. A second collection may eliminate Metal Gear Solid 4's PlayStation 3 exclusivity. Virtuos develops Metal Gear Solid Delta using Unreal Engine 5 technology. The Snake Eater remake arrives on modern platforms this month while preserving the beloved stealth mechanics that defined the original experience.
