Mohamad Hasan visits Myanmar to discuss ceasefire violations

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan traveled to Myanmar today for discussions with top leaders, including President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, and his counterpart U Than Swe.

In a post on his Facebook page, Mohamad said his visit was prompted by the recent ceasefire violation, which has hindered peace efforts and worsened the situation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the one-day working visit to Nay Pyi Taw, which follows the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in July 2025.

Mohamad, accompanied by ASEAN Chair's Special Envoy Tan Sri Othman Hashim, will call for the full implementation of ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus, including ending violence and ensuring humanitarian aid access. The upcoming elections in Myanmar will also be discussed.
