Mohamed Nasr out, Tamer El Mahdi seizes Telecom Egypt

Telecom Egypt named Tamer El Mahdi as managing director and chief executive on Tuesday after Mohamed Nasr resigned from his executive position and board seat. The telecommunications company also accepted departure requests from Mohamed Al Fowey and Ahmed Hassan, who served as vice presidents for technical operations and human resources. El Mahdi will manage the selection process for their replacements during his transition into leadership.

The new executive brings more than 30 years of experience across telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation sectors. He founded Trade Globe and Terrawaves Networks in 2020, and previously led Orascom Telecom Media and Technology as group chief executive from 2014 through 2019. Board Chairperson Lobna Helal said El Mahdi possesses the expertise needed to expand the company's customer base and improve service quality across domestic and international markets. The executive joined the board in March 2025 as a government representative before assuming his current role.
