Mowad criticizes Al Ahly for announcing Trezeguet's penalty

Former Al Ahly player Sayed Mowad thinks the team made a bad choice when they told reporters about Mahmoud Trezeguet's punishment. The club should have kept the penalty secret instead of sharing it with news outlets after their game against Inter Miami. Mowad believes this mistake hurt Trezeguet and made him feel stressed during their match against Palmeiras.

The former star spoke about this problem during a television interview on MBC Masr channel. He said Al Ahly officials created unnecessary pressure for their player when they announced the disciplinary action publicly. Mowad argued that teams should handle these situations privately without involving the media.

Trezeguet struggled during Al Ahly's game against Palmeiras after everyone knew about his penalty from the previous match. The Egyptian club lost that important contest with a final score of 2-0. This defeat happened during the second round of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup competition.

Mowad believes internal discipline works better when clubs keep it away from public attention. He thinks players perform worse when they worry about what fans and reporters might say about their mistakes. The former footballer wants Al Ahly management to learn from this experience and protect their players better in future situations.
