Mozambique Grapples With Chronic Disease Surge

Health officials just shared scary news about long-term sickness in Mozambique. The Health Ministry found that many grown-ups face serious health problems based on their latest study. One out of every three adults has high blood pressure right across the country. For every twenty adults you meet, one lives with diabetes daily. High fat levels in blood plague one-fifth of all adults, hitting women harder than men. The number of very heavy people has jumped twice as high since 2005.

Young people sit around much more these days. They also drink way more alcohol than before. All these facts came from the big health check called InCRÓNICA 2024. The worst finding shows that nearly one in five adults aged 40 to 69 might face heart problems or die from them within ten years. Canada gave 1.6 million dollars to pay for this research project. The World Health Organization helped plan the work, carried out by the National Health Institute and statistics experts.

The Health Minister asked everyone to help fight these problems fast. The whole country needs to work together against these health dangers. People must change how they live each day to stay healthy. More exercise, better food choices, and less drinking can make a huge difference. The rise of these lasting illnesses must stop before more harm happens. Without quick action from all sides, these health troubles will keep growing worse for future years.
