MP Blasts EOCO for Outrageous Wontumi 50M Bail

Collins Adomako-Mensah represents Afigya Kwabre North in Parliament. He spoke against Chairman Wontumi's arrest at EOCO offices Thursday. The MP called the detention an abuse of political power. He criticized the 50 million cedis bail amount as outrageous. Adomako-Mensah said Wontumi cooperated with police investigations.

The chairman drove from Kumasi to Accra when police called him. EOCO officers took Wontumi away after his CID meeting ended. His family and lawyers could not find him for two days. Adomako-Mensah said the chairman feels sick but still faces huge bail demands. Party leaders cannot even speak with Wontumi about his situation.

The MP supports investigations but wants proper legal steps followed. He said everyone knows Wontumi as a respected citizen who follows laws. The chairman will not run away from his legal problems. Opposition MPs plan to keep protesting at EOCO headquarters. They will skip Parliament meetings until authorities release the regional chairman.
