MP Says EOCO Is Gunning for Wontumi

Frank Annoh-Dompreh attacked government investigators for targeting NPP chairman Wontumi. The Minority Chief Whip believes EOCO acts for political reasons rather than legal ones. He blasted former President John Mahama for staying quiet about the abuse of power. Annoh-Dompreh warned his party might protest again if the harassment continues. The politician thinks officials want to show where power really lies.

Wontumi refuses to eat anything during his detention at EOCO facilities. The Ashanti Regional chairman started a hunger strike but doctors will not share health information. Officials moved him to a medical clinic but family members cannot learn about his condition. EOCO staff block his lawyers from meeting with him during the investigation. Annoh-Dompreh compared this treatment to murder suspects who get legal access.

The lawmaker claims investigators want to destroy NPP strength in the Ashanti Region. He believes removing the regional leader would weaken the party across Ghana. Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai faced criticism for discussing the case publicly. Annoh-Dompreh questioned why officials freeze bank accounts and seize cars before court hearings. He asked how the Deputy AG would feel facing similar treatment.
