MSI showed off its new Claw 8 gaming handheld at Computex. The device uses AMD's Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip with eight cores and 16 threads based on Zen 5 architecture. It has a Radeon 890M graphics chip, which matches some budget gaming cards. The handheld comes with 24 GB of memory running at 8000 MT/s speed, less than the 32 GB found in the Claw 8 AI+ model. The rest of the features stay mostly the same as earlier versions.
The gaming device sports an 8-inch touchscreen with 1920x1200 resolution that reaches 500 nits brightness. It uses a cooling system called Cooler Boost HyperFlow with two fans and two pipes. The Claw 8 weighs 30g less than the AI+ model. It offers two USB4 ports, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 for connecting accessories. MSI plans to release the handheld in several colors alongside a white Polar Tempest Edition.
MSI has not announced prices or release dates for these new models. The layout looks almost identical to previous versions, with slight differences in the grip design. The display supports a variable refresh rate for smoother gaming. Both new versions use the same cooling technology as earlier models.
