Uganda's military leadership met with European Union representatives on Monday at Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe to discuss continued cooperation on regional security matters. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the chief of defense forces, hosted Ambassador Johan Borgstam, the EU special representative for the Great Lakes region, along with Ambassador Jan Sadek and other senior officials from both delegations.
Discussions focused on peacekeeping missions conducted by the Uganda People's Defense Forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic. Borgstam praised Uganda's involvement in stabilization efforts across the region, while Kainerugaba highlighted the partnership's importance for maintaining security and governance.
The meeting built on previous consultations held in November 2024 and emphasized ongoing collaboration between Ugandan forces and European partners in addressing cross-border security challenges.
