The chief bodyguard of opposition leader Bobi Wine remains detained, according to recent social media posts from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Eddie Mutwe disappeared after armed men took him from Mbalwa in Mukono District on Wednesday. NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya first reported the abduction. His whereabouts remained unknown until the General made several statements online.
Kainerugaba wrote that security forces shaved Mutwe completely and that Mutwe cried during this process. The General also claimed Mutwe salutes President Museveni's picture daily before eating breakfast. Bobi Wine responded with just four words, saying time will tell.
No official word has come from the Uganda Police Force or the UPDF about why they hold Mutwe. Officials have filed no charges against him. NUP party members want Mutwe brought to court if he faces legal trouble. Mutwe has protected Bobi Wine since the early days of the People Power movement.
