Museveni Puts Cabinet on Ice for Voter Roll Check

President Museveni stopped all Cabinet meetings to help with voter list checks for the 2026 elections. He asked party members to visit their village centers Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. During this four-hour event, members will check names in party books and pick local leaders. Parliament also canceled its Tuesday meeting after Speaker Anita Among agreed to the plan.

Museveni will join his home village work in Kiruhura District. First Lady Janet Museveni plans to help at Ireenga village in Ntungamo. The president said he would not support any candidate because he welcomes all choices as party chairman. The party needs clean voter lists to avoid fights about who belongs and who doesn't.

The president wants strong local teams before the next national vote. Many people think Museveni will run again in 2026. His focus on village meetings shows how much he cares about having loyal supporters everywhere.
