Museveni Set for NRM Nomination as Presidential Flag Bearer for 2026

President Museveni will become the official NRM party leader and presidential candidate for 2026 elections. State House announced the nomination ceremony happens Saturday at NRM Electoral Commission headquarters. The longtime leader spent months visiting communities across Uganda through the Parish Development Model program. Local officials and citizens backed his bid for another term during these trips. Party members want him to keep running the country for stability and economic growth.

Museveni has ruled Uganda since 1986 and plans to seek another term as president. The country faces many challenges like youth unemployment and economic changes around the world. Leaders believe his experience can help Uganda handle these problems better than other candidates. Regional integration and development programs need steady leadership to succeed. Community support came from all corners of the nation during his recent tours.

NRM rules require presidential hopefuls to collect signatures from at least 100 National Conference members. Museveni easily met this requirement during his grassroots campaign across 18 party zones. Political experts say his nomination shows the party wants continuity rather than change. Some observers wonder about future leadership plans and bringing younger people into top positions. The upcoming campaign will likely highlight past successes and promise economic improvements for ordinary Ugandans.
