Museveni swats Buganda neglect claims at Rubaga rally

Museveni just coped hard about the Buganda neglect claims. The president told a rally in Rubaga that such talk was false. He spoke at Kitebi Primary School with the first lady, Janet Museveni, present. He argued that development there needed NRM peace first.

He pointed to new shopping malls as proof of progress. His stated goal remained to make people wealthy through various programs. He mentioned Entandikwa, NAADS, and OWC as past efforts.

The current Parish Development Model sends cash through local SACCOs. Museveni wondered aloud about people missing these funds. He told the crowd to report problematic committee members choosing beneficiaries.

He admitted that funds sometimes got stuck along the way. He called for teamwork to solve that distribution issue.

Regarding Rubaga's local MP, Museveni threw shade. He said he never chose that person and did not know them. He suggested voters themselves were responsible for their pick.

The president promised compensation for people displaced by the Nateete Market construction. He listed industrial parks in Mbale, Kapeka, and Namanve as job creators. He noted these were in Kampala, not his home area.

The first lady thanked religious leaders for their prayers. She said this spiritual support helped Uganda heal and build. She remarked on the large rally crowds as signs of divine faithfulness.

She urged remembering past struggles during this election season. Her speech called for national unity and continued NRM support. She framed the party's vision as key for future stability.

NRM vice chair Moses Kigongo thanked the Rubaga crowd for showing up. He viewed the turnout as strong ongoing support for the ruling party. He asked for loyalty and honesty from supporters.

He advised peaceful participation in the coming electoral process.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among pushed for better youth and women's inclusion. She wanted the Parish Development Model streamlined to help them directly. She noted urban youth needed capital for enterprises.

They also called for expanding the crowded Kasubi Market. She emphasized skills training so young people could create jobs. She concluded by asking Rubaga to protect unity and use government programs.

Rubaga NRM chair Ivan Semakula Majjambere praised visible development. He cited road upgrades from dust to tarmac as a key improvement. He thanked the leaders for supporting Kitebi Secondary School.

He highlighted redeveloped markets like Busega and Kasubi for boosting incomes. He called Rubaga unique for hosting many faiths and political roots. The event had many CEC members, MPs, and religious leaders in attendance.
