Muturi only goes where his work calls

Justin Muturi says he refuses to join President Ruto when he visits the Mt. Kenya region. The Public Service Cabinet Secretary made it clear he never tags along with presidents just because they travel somewhere. He pointed out that even during Uhuru Kenyatta's time as president, Muturi stayed away from presidential trips.

Muturi explained this position after meeting with Kikuyu elders last Saturday in Kiambu. He added he would only travel with Ruto if the trip directly connected to his job duties. Muturi has become one of the biggest critics inside the government itself. He skipped several important Cabinet meetings recently.

The CS asked President Ruto for permission to stop attending Cabinet meetings until they discuss kidnappings and illegal killings as main topics. He stressed this wasn't disrespectful because he sent a formal letter asking to be excused. Since his public criticism of the government over abductions, Muturi hasn't shown up at any Cabinet meetings.

This issue became very personal for Muturi when people kidnapped his son Lesly. His son disappeared along with friends, including Mark Mwenje, who serves as Embakasi West MP. After his son went missing, Muturi talked directly with President Ruto. The president then called Noordin Haji from National Intelligence Service, which helped free Lesly from his captors.
