Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi just thanked Saudi Arabia for keeping its partnership strong and solid. The Zanzibar leader and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council said the cooperation between the two spots runs on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared goals.
Mwinyi dropped these comments at the State House in Zanzibar while meeting with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, who rolled up with Saudi Ambassador to Tanzania Yahya bin Ahmed Okeish.
The President asked the Saudi government to keep backing the Zanzibar Hajj Fund to help get pilgrims ready and make their experience better. He wants more cooperation on Islamic education and pushed for additional study spots for Zanzibar students at schools in Saudi Arabia.
Mwinyi suggested Saudi Arabia look at adding more flights between the kingdom and Zanzibar, especially when the Hajj season hits and traffic spikes.
Al-Rabiah gave Zanzibar props for fixing up infrastructure like airports and roads. He said these upgrades have pumped up tourist numbers and boosted economic growth. The minister promised Saudi Arabia would keep strengthening cooperation with Zanzibar across different areas.
